Fake News Alert: Child Separation Crisis

A glance of the headlines in the mainstream news (MSM) outlets this morning (6/20/18).

“Trump says he would back both House immigration bills as child separation crisis grows”

“Trump heads to key midterm state Minnesota engulfed by immigration crisis”

“DHS Secretary Heckled at Mexican Restaurant”

These MSM headlines would have you believe that the Trump administration is the root cause of this “crisis” that suddenly popped up because of his recent stance on immigration.  First of all, there is no real crisis.  When an adult commits a crime in the US and they are sent to incarceration, we do not also send their children to prison.  That would be wrong.  Just because the criminal has children, does not eliminate the cause of their incarceration.  Under the logic of the left, if the criminal has kids then the criminal should either be released from prison or the child should be kept in prison along with their parents to prevent separation.  Both choices are ridiculous but that is not how the MSM is framing the root cause.  For MSM, the root cause of all evil in the world has to be Trump even when he has absolutely nothing to do with creating the law other than enforcing it.  The below memes pretty much nails the issue on the head.

The law in question was passed by Bill Clinton, enforced under the Obama administration but now has reached “crisis” status because Trump was elected President.  This is ridiculous at best and another cynical manufactured political attempt by the MSM to sway upcoming elections.  The MSM has already lost all credibility during the last election cycle and they are now doubling down as a biased propaganda arm of the DNC.  Pretty standard strategy of deflection placing the blame of all things your side did in the past on the other side.

Already proven false the previous MSM attempt to manufacture the topic into a crisis by claiming that the DHS “misplaced” up to 1,500 migrant children as reported in the WSJ.  Of course no one payed much attention to a follow-up clarification within the WSJ that said the 1,500 misplaced children were ones who showed up at the border with no parents and thus classified as misplaced because no parent could be found.  Fake pictures designed to tug at people’s heartstrings is again typical of the MSM and the Left trying to whip up emotions even if their propaganda material is entirely fictitious.
