Is “Fundamental Transformation” still underway?

Today’s Democrat Party cultivates disorder, dysfunction and human failing of all varieties because these are the conditions in which political pandering (offering force-of-law advantage to “identity-groups” in exchange for votes) is most effective.

The practice of “selling” advantaged-status to “identity-groups” has become so normalized that organizing such groups to lobby the government’s favor is a recognized specialty within the “political profession”: Community Organizer.

The result of this gross corruption is a balkanized citizenry; divided into “identity groups” which necessarily compete for “status” as the most aggrieved and therefore, most deserving of gov’t favor. New “identity groups” are constantly forming and joining in the general clamor for recognition.

Running out of physical, ethnic and other characteristics on which to define “identity groups”, new “identities” are now being organized around shared psychiatric disorders. Next will be those engaged in criminal behavior of various kinds. Leftists are already working to “normalize” pedophilia. Overt and organized lobbying for “protected status” for these perverts cannot be far behind.

Once the purpose of law was corrupted, this self-perpetuating degradation of society was assured. No government can offer equal defense to the natural rights of each INDIVIDUAL while at the same time showing favor and giving “special protections” on the basis of membership in an “identity group.”

When “justice” is properly defined as the Equal defense of each person’s natural liberty, the role of Government is necessarily limited to the point at which one person’s action impedes the natural liberty of another. In this case, interaction between people is motivated by aligned interest and based on mutual consent. People in such a society are focused on building, creating, producing and trading. They are not forced to compete for basic recognition under law.

Society, in this case, is being served by its government, not engineered by ruling class elites. This describes the USA as constituted; the fundamentals of which today’s Democrat party is desperate to transform.

Allowing “justice” to be defined as statistical parity among the ever-growing list of identity groups (the Left’s “Social Justice” construct) constitutes an unlimited authorization of power to government.

Human beings are diverse in priorities, interests, aptitudes, values, talents, abilities, etc. To believe each of the various groups into which Leftists divide society would be equally represented among doctors, athletes, accountants or musicians BUT FOR bigotry isn’t rational. Allowing a ruling class to engage a futile chase of statistical parity (i.e., “This category comprises 7 percent of the population and so must be 7 percent of that board of directors, this team, that club”) ensures force-of-law intervention in every aspect of human society.

This is not an incidental side effect. A government of unlimited powers is the POINT of the regressive “Social Justice” movement on which identity politics relies for moral cover.

If our Constitutional Republic is to be secured against the very real threats presented by a Democrat Party in the destructive grip of collectivist ideation, we must start by rejecting and repudiating identity politics.

EQUAL defense of all INDIVIDUALS’ natural rights must be restored as the purpose of American law and the measure of justice.

    • I disagree that ours is a diminishing view; I believe that most people want to have their individual rights defended, don’t you? Looking at the history of Western Civilization from, say, the 1215 Magna Carta forward; we see a series of advances for the liberty of the person:
The concession from King John that all are subject to the law – it exists outside the people into whose hands its writing, executing and adjudicating it’s entrusted – and so the King too, is subject to the law. The concepts of Natural rights and Natural Law emerged over hundreds of years.

By the time the USA was founded, Equality under Law, the natural Rights of Man and the just purpose of law were mature enough to form the foundations of our nation. Although the culture of the time wouldn’t permit it at the time, our founders’ also laid the groundwork for emancipation and expanding the franchise to women.

My point is that the trajectory – with notable setbacks – is toward better manifestations of human liberty. And I believe that trajectory – perhaps with periodic setbacks – will continue.

Ultimately, we’re going to recognize that in our zeal to obliterate the residue of slavery, we accidently established legal precedent for “protected classes”; the basis on which a new political strategy of identity politics would emerge. Once the error of “protected classes” is fully recognized (which will likely take the addition of some appalling new “identity groups”) Equality under law will be restored.

The leftist-run media has been working for decades on convincing you and I that we are an endangered species. They are helped when we embrace a fatalistic attitude about the “ultimate extinction” of liberty thinking. But their narrative would assume that the direction of advancing liberty since 1215 has reversed. i don’t believe that. And now that leftists no longer dominate media to deliver their view, those subscribed to American ideals are becoming more visible.

      • I see a fundamental shift during the Obama years, away from the Enlightenment, and toward Postmodernism. According to the new vision, people automatically align themselves into identity groups, and then vie for power, making individual liberty the CAUSE of oppression, and making it impossible for liberty to be a solution to oppression.

Simply put, we can either accept benevolent oppression by the state, or we will create oppression without benevolence.

The struggle between the Enlightenment view, and the Postmodernist view, is the fight of our times, and I think when you look at Europe, Canada, and increasingly even within the most populace states in the United States, Postmodernism is winning.

        • I see our current state as a natural result of the successful growth our country and its institutions. Children are taught to conform and the to listen to their teachers and to trust the system. The people who live in cities in apartments and commute to their place of work on public transportation, relax in publicly run parks, and rely upon city cops to protect them depend upon the system and the infrastructure. Even though we know government is the least efficient, most wasteful of economic organizations, the people don’t know any better when their entire world is reliant upon the government.
