Shirtsleeves, Spangles, and The Declaration of Independence

Watching an old episode of Midsomer Murders I heard a character say, “Shirtsleeves and spangles. We each have two jobs in the circus. One is the grunt work and the other is the show.”

Shirtsleeves and spangles. At least in that circus they understood that sweat and glamour could be housed in the same body. Wish career politicians of late understood that like the Founding Fathers did.

A few days ago on Facebook, a man, who said he was quoting the preamble to the Constitution of the United States, made some comment that was asinine and I’m not even going to bother with it here. However, having read the Declaration of Independence, Constitution, and the Bill of Rights and Amendments, I thought, “I don’t think he’s quoting correctly.” I pulled out my copy and sure enough, I don’t know what he was quoting but it wasn’t in any of those documents.

But after having read through them again, it dawned on me that there are some points in the Declaration of Independence that are salient to what we are experiencing with The Jab and all that surrounds it, and why many around the world and here in the US are pushing back against the mandates.

Why was a new government formed in the first place all those many years ago? “To secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.”

The Declaration of Independence gives 26 reasons why the King was given the boot. Here are only six of those:

#9) He has made Judges dependent of his Will alone, for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries.

Does this sound familiar? How many years has the Left moved very liberal judges into lower courts and into the Supreme Court for the sole purpose that social engineering could take place by judges’ decrees? How often did the so-called lawmakers get too lazy to roll up their shirtsleeves and fight these things? Not as often as was needed, that’s for sure. Were they too focused on losing the flashy spangles their office provided?

⁠#10) He has erected a multitude of New Offices and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people and eat out of their substance.

Does this sound familiar? Yes, the rise of the bureaucrat is seeing a huge resurgence. Remember restaurant owners being given a long list of things with which they must comply in order to stay open during this so-called pandemic, only to be told by Compliance Officers that they still couldn’t open because one little, tiny, itsy-bitsy chair was where it was allowed to be?

#16) For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent.

Remember this: “NO NEW TAXES!” That’s right, Bush One promised no new taxes because supposedly citizens must vote on those increases or something like that. But what did happen? Fees went up across the board for anything the federal government touched including park entry fees and more. The argument trotted out by Bush when questioned on it was: Well, those weren’t taxes, they were fees. Alrighty then. The citizens laughed and made fun of Bush Numero Uno.

#17) For depriving us in many cases, of the benefits of Trial by Jury.

A woman in Alabama is not allowed to see her son because she has not received The Jab. She was advised by a doctor that her health condition would not allow for it without hurting her, but did the judge care about that? He did not. Was it his job to make that ruling? It is not. That judge reversed himself after a huge backlash from everywhere.

That’s just one case. There are many others where people are held without bail for months and years because they can’t afford the bail, but they are not brought to trial.

#23) He has plundered our seas, ravaged our Coasts, burnt our towns, and destroyed the lives of our people.

Property owners are having cancelled their lawful right to collect rents and evict those who do not pay it, on property they own, pay the bills for, and maintain. Business owners have been shut down (think about the US small business commercial fisherman among others) as well as the licensing fees required by governments federal, state, and local just to be able to offer a cleaning service. Then the Covid situation really ramped up governments opportunity to punish business owners thereby destroying the livelihoods of millions.

#26) He has excited DOMESTIC INSURRECTIONS amongst us…

…such as ANTIFA, BLM, the SPLC, among others who get their funding from George Soros and dark money from governments themselves. You can include in that list mayors and governors and elected leaders in Congress who have encouraged rioters to destroy government buildings, businesses, and private homes, and punished those who were protecting themselves and their livelihoods and families.

“In every stage of these Oppressions We have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only the repeated injury. A Prince whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.”

Well, fella, one cannot comply one’s self out of tyranny.

I know that’s so because I saw it on a t-shirt. But the man did not understand any of this and wrote: “Angela Durden, I may be misinterpreting your posting but, I fail to see how the protest of a majority of the population against a self interested tyrannical king is a rationally equivalent basis of protest regarding the eradication of a deadly pandemic.”

Because, I replied, it isn’t an eradication of a deadly virus in pandemic mode that is being protested. It is the manipulation of fear, the ginning up of numbers out of thin air, and the misinterpretation of statistics to make people believe it is a deadly pandemic and keep the population under house arrest. [The CDC has admitted to falsifying the numbers, for goodness’ sake.]

A true pandemic response would not require the healthy, strong, and fit to be quarantined. Therefore, #23, #10, and #9 especially are fitting in that bureaucrats have set themselves up as king.

The man was so deluded he absolutely could not even conceive of government tricking its citizens.

Then another fellow piped up. He shared a picture that had these words on it:

“I don’t understand some people’s problem with wearing a mask. I grew up with no shoes, no shirt, no service. Nobody turned that in a civil rights issue as far as I know….right now we are being asked to wear a mask to make everyone feel more comfortable about restarting society. I don’t understand all of the anger about that….I will do it because…I am being asked to do….I don’t consider it an infringement on any of my basic human rights. It is simply the polite thing to do for the common good.”

He is wrong about what this whole thing is about. What is being mandated is from a government that says if there is no compliance, there is punishment in the form of imprisonment without trial, inability to purchase food, exorbitant fines, having one’s own business shut down, inability to go to school, and more. This country broke with England for a reason.

The vaccine mandate, cutely called The Jab, is being used to manipulate entire nations into a strict compliance against all evidence of its ineffectiveness.

It isn’t about making “everyone feel more comfortable about restarting society” nor it is the “polite thing to do for the common good”.
⁠
It is being used to put healthy people, the strong and fit, and those least at risk under what is little more than house arrest. Look, when this thing first hit, just about everybody jumped all over the self-quarantining and facial covering when we first found out about it in the early to middle part of 2020 — and we happily did our parts.

But when the lies started.

When the questions would not be answered.

When manipulations and punishments were trotted out with the words “or else” implied by them.

Yes, that’s when citizens said “Enough!” Even Eric Clapton just wrote a song about that entitled “This Has Got To Stop”.

But what happened when citizens started questioning their elected leaders and bureaucrats?

Why the government started pushing back harder with even more punishments and manipulations using teachers’ unions, large businesses, healthcare systems, airlines, and more. And what is happening with that? Citizens are reminding the government of their limitations, which government has forgotten.

Stalin said it best: “I don’t care who votes; I care who does the counting.” Stalin understood the power of the manipulation of numbers to imply other than what they really said and the wholesale making up of the numbers.

The CDC’s upper management has been doing the same with this situation. They are complicit in manipulating the reporting about the causes of deaths around the world and thus are helping governments to lay waste to freedom.

It’s not about the virus. Around the world people have been dealing with viruses for the entire existence of humans. Always it is the infected who are quarantined. Never that I know of until this time has a medical response been to shut down the economy, close businesses, order all to stay in their homes, no worshipping together, can’t take care of elderly parents, can’t stay with your child or spouse or elderly parents as a patient advocate in the hospital, and other such controls brought on by politicians and special interest groups working in concert to destroy freedom worldwide by using the virus response as a weaponized tool.

How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.

How do you destroy freedom? One mandate at a time.

This whole thing has never been about health.

It is about denying freedom in order to let Evil rule. Satan is laughing and thinking he’s won. He has forgotten the power of our Heavenly Father.

So, don’t get focused on being the show.
Roll up them shirtsleeves and get busy.
