The Culmination and Loss of Freedom

News and political junkies are on overload lately.  Stories of supply chain disruptions, and every kind of governmental overreach dominate the news.  Some of this stuff wanders into ‘perfect storm’ or conspiracy theories.  Let’s dig.

Let’s start with some domestic issues.  Congress wants to pass both a $1.5T ‘infrastructure’ bill, and a $3.5T Omnibus spending bill—over 2,500 pages.  Not a single Congressman has read this entire monstrosity of a bill.  My question:  who wrote this thing?  My guess:  this huge Democrat dream list has been written by various interest groups for YEARS, waiting for this exact scenario.  Democrat control of the House of Representatives, marginal Democrat control of the tied Senate, and Democrat President, that likely has no idea what he is advocating.  In addition to spending as if money has no value (and, at the present rate, it will be a self-fulfilling prophecy), we have our political usage of the DOJ and FBI, started under the Obama administration, taken to the next level by the Biden group.  Got questions over possible fraud regarding the 2020 Presidential Election?  FBI and DOJ have no time for such things.  Got a few potentially violent crazy people, that have threatened others?  Still no time.  Have potential coordination of nationwide riots last summer?  Still no time to investigate.  Have a few million illegal immigrants, with no idea where they are from, what their health status is, or what they may be bringing into the US?  Still no time.  But:  have a Black NASCAR Driver mistake a garage door pull for a noose?  Send a DOZEN FBI agents to investigate!  Have some parents stand up at PTA and school board meetings to protest Critical Race Theory being advanced in their schools?  Prepare for DOJ investigating ‘domestic terrorists’!  The Biden administration has language in those bills mentioned above the idea of IRS notification of all bank accounts with balances or transactions over $600—that only includes 99% of all bank accounts nationwide!  The flimsy disguise is that they want to track tax cheating on ‘millionaires and billionaires’.  Does $600 sound like a transaction for the super-rich, or just everyone with a job?  We are a step away from the IRS penetrating all of our spending habits, without probable cause, and without a warrant—just because they want to.  If this smells like the potential for China’s ‘political scoring’ system, you align with my thoughts.  For example, in China, if your political score isn’t high enough, you can’t even utilize public transportation.  Big Brother, move over.

Next, let’s review our current international snafu:  supply chain shipping.  Oh boy.  At this writing, there are literally DOZENS of huge, multi-shipping container cargo ships, in holding patters out at sea off of both the East and West coast docks, unable to unload their cargos.  The reasons are plentiful:  longshoremen strikes, COVID-19 job losses, workers refusing COVID vaccinations, you name it.  But the end result:  there are shortages all over the US, right now.  And Winter isn’t here yet.  Cars without necessary computer chips are now warehoused, unfit for sale—so those few that are available are getting hit with up to $30K in ‘market adjustments’.  Nearly every industry is impacted by the shipping crisis, if they have any foreign suppliers.  Things that used to be ordered and delivered in weeks or days are now being counted in months.

Remember the food supply chain issues from last year, mostly due to COVID-19 sicknesses at some point in the distribution system (farmers, ranchers, meat processors, wholesalers, all were hit)?  When restaurants were effectively closed to all but drive-thru service for months, lowering nationwide food demand by nearly half?  We are just now seeing the impact on our food prices–$7 per pound ground beef?  Chicken, $2 per pound?  It’s here.  The disruptions last year are not problems solved in a month—it takes at least a SEASON to replenish stocks.

Add all of this with inflation not seen in over a decade, and energy prices hitting new highs daily?  You get that ‘perfect storm’ mentioned above.  The only remaining question:  is this just terrible luck, horrible political decisions, or an intentional action by governments here and abroad to bring the US down?  There is no right answer—they are all miserable.  Stay tuned.  This Winter might get really ugly, really fast.
