Leftist Logic: The 2020 Election

I’ve written a number of times about the election from the perspective of Republicans. I want to write about it now from the perspective of the left, to better help Republicans and independents see what is really going on.

The left’s sense of ‘democracy’ stems from the belief that the United States of America was created as a Western Patriarchy, by racist white men, who sought to create a nation based on white supremacy.

If you believe that we are a nation built on white supremacy, and that racism is in our DNA, then it is logical to also believe that if the American people were allowed an honest election, white supremacy would be reflected in the results.

Time Magazine published an article in which they said that ‘a well funded cabal’ ‘fortified American democracy’. The article went into great detail over all of the things (other than outright vote fraud) this cabal did to predetermine the results, by, for example, using the media and big tech to control America’s access to information – controlling the narrative in Biden’s favor.

What the Democrats believe they are doing is to predetermine who we would elect were we not a racist nation, which is to say, who we would elect if we were what they would consider ‘worthy’ of democracy. The democrats then make sure that this person wins. Being that it is Democrats who are deciding who we would elect were we not evil, and given that much of the left has been indoctrinated by a process known as ‘virtue signaling’, it should be no surprise that the Democrats always pick their side as the side that would win, were we worthy of voting for them, and that the Democrats then rig the system to ensure victory.

If you start with the assumptions the left makes about our country (that racism is baked into every aspect of our nation), and then you consider that Republicans are working to preserve our nation’s historic values – of course they are rigging our elections! Not only that, but the left is 100% convinced that rigging the elections is the necessary and proper thing to do. Their position is that democracy needs to be protected from the American people – many of whom are ‘a bucket of deplorables.’

The real underlying belief is that the Democrats represent a moral and intellectual elite, and that the country (and world) would be in MUCH better shape if we could just get out of the way and let them rule over us, unfettered.

Many of the things we consider corrupt, they consider necessary to take/keep power, which they believe they have to do to save our country from it’s vile, disgusting nature. The Democrats see the people as wholly unqualified to make any but the most remedial of decisions. Of course they do not trust us to choose our ‘elected’ leaders.

We see this in our courts too. Our courts have made it crystal clear, by refusing to hear election challenges, that they are concerned only with preserving the appearance of having legitimate elections. The actual legitimacy of our elections is not even on their radar.

And do not discount the left’s belief that they are right. If you read Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama’s books, they are both absolutely convinced that they are the most intelligent and most moral people on the planet. In their opinions, of COURSE they know best, and they share power with the leaders of big tech and the media, and whomever else they need, in order to protect us from ourselves.

The left sees itself as a new nobility.

Time Magazine spelled all of this out in no unspoken terms:

“That’s why the participants want the secret history of the 2020 election told, even though it sounds like a paranoid fever dream–a well-funded cabal of powerful people, ranging across industries and ideologies, working together behind the scenes to influence perceptions, change rules and laws, steer media coverage and control the flow of information. They were not rigging the election; they were fortifying it. And they believe the public needs to understand the system’s fragility in order to ensure that democracy in America endures.”

In what world does a ‘well funded cabal’ that is ‘working together behind the scenes to influence perceptions, (illegally) change rules and laws, steer media coverage and control the flow of information’ represent an attempt to make an election fair? The ‘fragility’ – that would be the voters. We’re dopes who have to be told who to vote for. And then the election has to be defrauded, lest we do like we did in 2016 and elect the wrong person anyway.

Just as the left measures the ‘equity’ of a system based on the equality of the results it creates, so too the left measures the fairness of a ‘democracy’ based on the outcomes it provides. If the public votes for the ‘wrong’ people, the left believes it indicates that the voters were manipulated by evil forces. Those evil forces manipulate the public by doing such dasterdly deeds as speaking, or by pointing out the moral failings of those the left deems worthy. The left, then, feels duty-bound to ‘protect’ the ‘integrity’ of the election, by controlling anything and everything that determines the outcome.

And the left does this with, in their minds, absolute moral integrity. What is important to the left is to ensure that the people elected are the people who would have been elected if we had a country worthy of democracy, in the eyes of the Democratic Party, and if the left needs to cheat to win, it is only, in their minds, to make up for the moral failings of the people.

Now that I have spelled things out in clear language, you may try to convince yourself that I am wrong. I’m afraid that doing so will not be possible. Just as Dorothy could not un-see the ‘man behind the curtain’ in the Wizard of Oz, so too you will not be able to unread this article. Unless our country makes real and lasting changes to ensure the legitimacy of our election processes (and to allow free and fair exchanges of information in the public sphere), we will never have an honest election again.

  1. NOTE: Someone has already mentioned that Hillary Clinton said ‘basket of deplorables’ rather than ‘bucket of deplorables.’ Note that both quotes are correct. This article, being about the 2020 election, took the phrase from Joe Biden, and not Hillary Clinton. Joe Biden said ‘bucket of deplorables,’ likely trying to quote Hillary Clinton, and getting it wrong.
