We, as a country and as a culture, have been under assault lately—but not in a physical sense. The legal profession defines ‘assault’ as ‘a likely expectation of physical harm or unwanted contact’. This definition clarifies that some instances of ‘sexual assault’ do not require actually touching the victim. That action becomes ‘battery’ if the actual physical altercation takes place. But I am referring to an assault upon common sense and understanding, and I believe it to be 100% intentional. Let’s dig.
First, I know that philosophers have been debating the existence of ‘pure truth’ since the beginning of mankind’s look into itself. That is, after day-to-day fearing for one’s life is solved, we have the luxury of contemplating metaphysical constructs: religion, philosophy, ethics, reason, and many others. I am aware of viewpoint bias to ‘truth’, yet I am loathe to prescribe to ‘your truth’ or ‘my truth’ theories. But up until very recently, I think an overwhelming percentage of Americans drew upon a large sea of undisputed facts, all cobbled together to form a bedrock of ‘truth’. And even those ‘facts’ are easy to dispute, as they were passed down in American History textbooks that took a decidedly pro-American viewpoint (the winners DO get to write such textbooks). But even centuries-old premises of fact are now not only questioned, but the academic world views you as an idiot for ever thinking they may have ever been considered.
The gender of a child used to be an instantaneous fact, known definitively at birth, depending upon genitalia. Yes, there are those that suffer a physical malady known as hermaphroditism (containing both or no sexual organs at birth), but that is such a small percentage of the population as to render their cases as oddities. Male or female, that is the binary answer. Except now, the intelligentsia would like you to believe that you can be either sex, or a myriad of shades or persuasions, just because you wish it to be so! That whole XX XY chromosome thing is so passe! Note that I do not equate gender with self-perception or sexual attraction. But the theme here: completely disregard prior known absolutes.
Economics defines ‘inflation’ as ‘a decrease in the value of currency, usually caused by an increase in the quantity of that currency’. Over the last two years, the US government, via the Federal Reserve, has increased the amount of currency into the system by literally TRILLIONS of dollars, with currency presses running nearly non-stop. And Congress has no problem whatsoever with passing spending bills and ‘budgets’ in excess of TRILLIONS of dollars, completely divorced from any increases in tax revenues collected. Tax receipts over the last few years have been between $3T and $4T—illuminating just how large a $1T spending bill really is. Picture a personal expenditure totaling between 1/3rd and 1/4th of your annual income—not an insignificant event! But the news media would have you believe that Russia invading the Ukraine is the primary reason the US is experiencing inflation levels not seen in decades. Ignore the actions of your government—the invasion is THE cause!
Truckers in Canada, followed by truckers (and others) in the US, protested governmental overreach, primarily the government’s edicts regarding COVID-19 testing and vaccination requirements. Those truckers were directly impacted by those requirements, especially those that crossed the US-Canada border, as they were held in 14-day quarantine if they returned from the US, non-vaccinated. The Canadian truckers held a protest, via a miles-long convoy to Ottawa, Canada’s capital city. By all first-hand accounts of this huge endeavor, it was a peaceful, non-violent protest. The US truckers mimicked their northern cohorts with a similar convoy a few weeks later. Yet, the media either ignored both protests or demonized them entirely. Burn a city down, as in Summer 2020? Mostly peaceful protest. Run a vehicle convoy, harming zero property? Pure evil. Again, the theme continues: ignore what you see, believe what government and media tell you to believe.
COVID-19, and its myriad of ‘variants’, is winding down. As serious as it was for many that contracted a version of that virus, many fatally, it has run its course. One can argue the accuracy of the death, hospitalization, or infection numbers (estimates have a HUGE range). But a few items have come to light over time. Otherwise healthy children were at almost zero risk of fatality due to this virus. In fact, nearly all fatalities at any age were with preexisting comorbidities. Cloth masks were deemed essential, yet every study available rendered them useless. Social distancing of 6 feet apart gained legitimacy, yet no studies back such a thing. The entire economy was shut down due to asymptomatic infection. The same reason was given to prevent gatherings at funerals, weddings, bars, sports venues, and most restaurants. Yet few if any cases of documented asymptomatic spread are found. Many areas of the country continue to enforce mask mandates for children; airlines still require masks to be worn; there is even talk of vaccine mandates for many industries. Now we graduate to the vaccine. Ho boy. Not only did none of the three available vaccines prevent transmission or contraction, many vaccinated people were hospitalized, or even died. Many other vaccinated folks reported sudden onset strokes and heart issues. The BEST that could be claimed is that the vaccines MAYBE lessened the severity of symptoms. In fact, non-vaccinated people were blamed for the infection of those that were vaccinated! On the plus side, cases of flu, for the first time in recorded history, were nearly zero. Again, per the government and media, COVID-19 was the most serious virus since the Black Plague, and the ONLY way to prevent its evil spread was a vaccine so untested, all of the drug manufacturers were shielded from liability prosecution. Or wear a cloth mask that by its own manufacturer says it is not effective against coronavirus. But believe us this time.
Former President Donald Trump is a criminal. Except he has neither been charged or convicted of any crime. Every single ‘case’ Trump has been accused of has fallen apart. From ‘collusion’ (still not a crime), to Stormy Daniels (such a good case, Daniels is now on the hook for $300K of Trump’s legal fees), to the Trump Foundation inflating asset values (it appears they now UNDERVALUED them), to Trump being accused by MANY women of sexual assault or contact (yet all dropped their cases when Trump lost his re-election campaign—it seems their accusations simply wouldn’t hold up in a real court of law, where they actually have rules of evidence and cross-examination). All of these cases are non-prosecuted history, yet listen to the media: HE’S GUILTY! Many media folks just put it out there as a known fact, so people assume it must be so. The trend continues.
There is a need for a new term: political fact (a natural oxymoron). This applies to anything spouted in political circles. If the statement is repeated enough, it becomes assumed fact—real proof or substantiation is not required (in reality, proof is a damned inconvenience).
What do all of the above have in common? I have a theory. I think all of the Liberals of the world want you to completely suspend critical thinking entirely. They want you to question, if not completely debunk, all known facts, no matter how long they have been in place. They want you to believe ONLY what they think you should believe, and nothing more. As Frank Zappa reportedly once said, “How can you defend your rights if you don’t know what they are?” And if they can convince you that gender is whatever they want it to be, that concrete facts simply do not exist, history is all a lie, and that media repetition is all that is required for a story to be ‘accurate’, you will simply believe…anything. And that, in my humble opinion, is the true endgame of this nonsense. They are our betters, waiting to control everyone else’s lives, and the best way to accomplish that is to remove all logic and reason. Here we are.
