I am not known for my patience, and what little I have ran out weeks ago. I cruised right past irritated, all the way over to anger. What I want to know is: who is with me? Let’s dig.
The USA as we know it is under attack, from several angles. Our political class is divided between two groups: Democrats that want to be rid of President Donald Trump at any cost, up to and including a crime-less ‘impeachment’; and Republicans that do not seem to stand up for or against…anything. Our country is literally on fire, with riots, statue demolitions, calls to defund police departments, and, should anyone disagree, the ready-made accusation of racism abounds from every corner. As if there is no middle ground: either support the riots and mayhem, or you’re a White supremacist, or an Uncle Tom. Critical thinking left town months ago, and what is left is scary and worthless. Blue State Governors and mayors are conveniently either implicitly or explicitly condoning the lawlessness.
The rule of law is now as arbitrary and whimsical as it as ever been. Try to re-open your COVID-19 closed business, you can actually go to jail. There’s room, as several governors released prisoners to avoid…COVID-19. Children cannot attend schools, parishioners cannot attend churches, vacationers cannot attend amusement parks and beaches—all can bring the wrath of police–but it is fine and dandy to demonstrate by the thousands, up to and including rioting, arson, vandalism, and looting—the police have been ordered to stand down for these civic ‘protesters’. Something less than 10% of the US population is dictating terms to the remaining 90%–and to challenge them is apparently impossible.
The US middle class has no champion. No one is standing up for them, either economically, politically, or physically protecting them from the mayhem. Not ONE GOP Congressman has come forth to denounce the criminal behaviors that threaten their constituents. Tell me again why we voted for them? Is their collective tail between their legs, fearful of the racism tag, or do they secretly agree with their opposition?
Want a landslide victory, GOP? Come out forcefully for upholding the law! ALL of it! See a large group destroying something? Jail THEM ALL. Every last one of them. Use whatever force is necessary to accomplish that goal. Hold press conferences daily, letting the rabble-rousers know that it stops NOW! Pound the point across: THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE! Because the roll-over-and-play-dead method simply is failing at every level. Are we prepared to let the USA fizzle away this way, to be replaced by mob rule of the loudest, worst sort? If not, who will stand up to the nonsense peddlers? In other words, who will LEAD? Forgive me if I’m pessimistic.
