Are you as confused as I am? Did you think it was illegal to loot, burn, and destroy public and private property and statues? Did you think that the POLICE would arrest anyone trying to do such things? Did you think our court systems and penal systems were created to adjudicate and punish such mayhem? Me too. In fact, I was under the totally mistaken premise that peaceful protests were legal, but rioting was not. Silly me. But let’s dig a bit deeper, shall we?

Apparently, the children of 1960s radicals and hippies are now running some cities and some States. They are in charge! Well, they learned well from their parents: THE MAN SHOULDN’T BE ABLE TO KEEP THE PEOPLE DOWN! Didn’t you know that protesting is such a cool, righteous thing to do, even if you don’t have a political goal? And you can only get THE MAN’S attention if you destroy something? That most everyone in the mob have different motivations—including free stuff, if you just take it—is simply NOT a problem. That the same mob pulls down statues of folks that supported their position in a different day and time also matters little. Well, if you confine your (former) lawbreaking activities to the correct locales, not only will the police not arrest you, they will be told to stand down! BURN AWAY! And if you accidentally get arrested, don’t worry! Your cities just passed low-bail and no-bail policies that will get you right back out into your rioting groove before a day is out. Failing that, several Hollywood stars have pledged millions of dollars specifically for your bail!

I almost feel sorry for the people in these areas. They worked hard to build their businesses. They also thought they were protected from wanton mayhem, too. They were taxed heavily to pay for such protection, including police and fire departments. But they also voted in foolish, lawless, moronic leaders. Folks that have disdain for police at best, and hatred for them at worst. So, when the rioting emergency came about, those leaders did the exact opposite of what leaders do. Instead of acting responsibly, utilizing the assets at their disposal for exactly such events, they deliberately chose to do less than nothing. By pulling all law enforcement from the areas, they gave implicit, if not explicit, approval of the mob’s behavior. Instead of LEADING, they placated them. The results were and are quite predictable.

My questions: are those mayors and governors legally liable for the damages they allowed to occur? When is enough enough? When will the adults in government (assuming they still exist) take control, and ENFORCE THE LAW? Remind me again why we are paying taxes to our ‘leaders’ to NOT lead? Maybe a ‘stop payment’ policy may finally get their attention? Is it possible that the Blue State Governors and Democrat mayors are fully willing to sacrifice their constituents (and their property) to try to influence the next Presidential election? If so, how many criminal charges can we add to this list? Maybe the biggest crime is remaining in any area governed by Democrat leaders?
